It is no longer news that Hilary Rodham Clinton won the Presidential Primaries of the Democratic Party of the United States of America, what is news and trending now is that she has officially been nominated by the Democratic Party of the United States to be her Presidential Candidate.

This has made it the first time in the 240 years old America that a woman is being nominated by a Major Political Party to be its Presidential Candidate.

I listened to her Acceptance Speech at the closing of the Democratic Party Convention and I was simply enthralled as she held me spell bound

You would too

Just watch and you would be happy for her and for America

Here's wishing her all the best in the Campaigns

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO ALL VEHICLE USERS!

*Vulcanizers in Nigeria are killing people*

Many people have been wondering what could be the cause of the incessant tyre burst accidents on Nigerian roads.

The major cause is that we put too much pressure in our tyres.

How did I know?

I was preparing for a journey, I changed some of my tyres and I asked the vulcanizer that 'what is the recommended tyre pressure?' He said 50. I said alright, he should inflate it to 50 all round.

When I got to where I was going, I was discussing with some people on the issue of the Minister of State for Labour  that died on the road due to a burst tyre and wonder what could have happened because nobody could imagine a minister would be traveling with expired tyres as many would think is the major cause of tyre bursts.

A man (lived in US for many years) said that the major cause of tyre burst in Nigeria is that we put too much pressure in our tyres and that each car has recommended tyre size and pressure clearly written on it by the manufacturer.

*I was surprised and begged him to come and show me where it's written on my car.

To my greatest surprise, it's by the drivers door which I enter everyday without noticing it.*

By the time we checked, the recommended pressure for my tyres is 32! and I just traveled with tyres on a pressure of 50!

He took me round his compound and showed me that of the cars (which includes a jeep and a sienna) there, the highest was 32. Some were even 29!

He further explained that tyres are made of rubber and expand at high temperature. So, when you are travelling in the afternoon when the asphalt on the road is hot, the tyre will want to expand. If the pressure in the tyre is too much and wouldn't accommodate the expansion, a burst is likely to happen at that time.

Please check the recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle and others you know.

As many Nigerians as possible need to read this.

For Stephen Okechukwu Keshi a former Coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles who went to be with the Lord some weeks back, the final bell has been rung and what is left of his person has been committed to mother earth (the earth that is never tired of swallowing men and women alike - the high and mighty, the low and poorly)

May his soul find rest in the Bosom of the Lord

Amen

The June 12, 2016, shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub came as a shock to the world — a senseless act of hate.

The response to the tragedy, however, has been heartening. Within days, more than $4 million was raised for victims and their families on the crowdfunding site GoFundMe. Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Rays honored the city during their annual Pride Night game. Across the country, and across the world, people have responded to the tragedy with love and empathy for the LGBTQ community.

Just three days after the shooting, some of Broadway's biggest talents came together to offer a message so simple and yet so perfect: Love must prevail.

Broadway stars Idina Menzel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Audra McDonald, Sara Bareilles, Kristen Bell, Sean Hayes, Gloria Estefan, Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Billy Porter, and Bernadette Peters were among the dozens of singers who gathered on June 15, at New York's Avatar Studios to record a version of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's classic song, "What the World Needs Now Is Love."

As of June 19, (prior to the song's release) the Center has collected nearly $425,000 in victim relief donations, which are being used to support the needs of victims' families, like air travel, child care, funeral services, health care costs, and counseling, among other services.
When you watch the performance, you can’t help but feel a little choked up. It’s inspiring to see that in response to one person's darkest, most violent actions, humanity can still come together in an effort to win with the power of love.
Even more, the song is an inspiring reminder to take action and prevent the next tragedy from happening.

Whether the action it inspires is downloading the song, supporting local GBLT centers, calling members of Congress to discuss gun safety measures and anti-LGBT discrimination, or something less tangible like inspiring respect for people who are different or making sure to share kindness in the face of pain, it is an emotional reminder that love must prevail — not just in the wake of tragedies, but always.

Watch Broadway stars record a song for the victims of the Orlando shooting.

In the face of hate, love must prevail.

On June 12, 2016, a man walked into an Orlando nightclub, opened fire, and killed 49 people.
Many questions from that night remain. Namely: Why? Why them? Why that night? The question of "who," however — that's something we know. We know who the shooter was, and we know who the victims are.

A new video hopes to shine a light on stories of the victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre, enlisting the help of 49 celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Laverne Cox, Chris Pine, and others.

Produced by the Human Rights Campaign and Ryan Murphy ("Glee," "American Horror Story"), the 18-minute film aims to keep the memories alive of those lost and ensure they did not die in vain.

"For too long, a toxic combination of anti-LGBTQ hate and easy access to guns has put LGBTQ people at disproportionate risk of violence and murder," reads the video's description. "It's on all of us to keep their memories alive, and to ensure part of their legacy becomes meaningful action to end hate violence."

Other celebrities featured include Cuba Gooding Jr., Connie Britton, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Lea Michele, Colton Haynes, Sophia Bush, Jane Fonda, Harry Shum Jr., Denis O’Hare, Rob Reiner, Melissa Benoist, Caitlyn Jenner, Édgar Ramírez, Max Greenfield, Chaz Bono, Cheyenne Jackson, Emma Roberts, Kerry Washington, George Lopez, Evan Rachel Wood, Sofia Vergara, Diego Boneta, Nina Jacobson, Tyler Oakley, Yeardley Smith, Kid Cudi, Kaitlin Olson, Kevin McHale, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lee Daniels, Chace Crawford, Evan Peters, Gerard Butler, Katey Sagal, John Stamos, Jordana Brewster, Wes Bentley, Finn Wittrock, Darren Criss, Kathy Bates, Anna Paquin, Guillermo Díaz, and Joe Mantello.

All her life, Dorothy Williams dreamed of being a star.

Now 90 years old, she finally got her chance.

Thanks to "America's Got Talent," the nonagenarian had the opportunity to perform in front of a massive live crowd (not to mention the millions of viewers watching on TV). She wasn't about to let this golden opportunity go to waste.

For 1 minute and 19 seconds, all eyes were on Dorothy.

Her routine was met with raucous cheers from start to finish.

Audience members gasped, clapped, and roared as Dorothy performed a strip tease (complete with nipple tassels, whaaaat?!) on the stage.

She exuded joy, standing as living proof that you can be amazing at any age.

"A star is born tonight!" host Nick Cannon exclaimed as the crowd again erupted into applause. It was a good night for Dorothy. A very, very good night.

She has indeed proven that "You're never too old to follow your dreams."

JAMB adopts point system option for 2016 admissions
July 5, 2016
Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu
Friday Olokor, Abuja
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced the release of its guidelines for the 2016 admissions’ process.
The method, described as the point system option, was adopted after an extensive one-week meeting JAMB had with universities and other tertiary institutions’ administrators in the country.
According to the guidelines contained in a statement placed on its website on Monday night, JAMB said that the modalities were going to be based on point system.
While explaining how the admission process would work for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination candidates and direct entry students, the organisation stated that universities were going to charge fees for screening of candidates at the end of the process for admission.
According to JAMB, the new method uses a point system to offer provisional admission to candidates.
“Before a candidate can be considered for screening, he/she must have been offered a provisional admission by JAMB. The JAMB admission checker portal is going to be opened soon for this process, so praying is all you can do now,” JAMB said.
The second process, it said, was the point system where admission would depend on the point tally of the candidate.
The statement said, “JAMB’s provisional admission no longer makes much sense this year, your points tally will decide your faith. The points are evenly spread out between your O’ Level and JAMB results to provide a level-playing field for all.
“In the first case, any candidate who submits only one result which contains his/her relevant subjects already has 10 points. The exam could be NECO, WASSCE, November/December WASSCE etc, but any candidate who has two sittings only gets 2 points. So this means that candidates with only one result are at an advantage but only just.”
The organisation added that the “next point grades fell into the O’ Level grades where each grade would have it equivalent point; A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the better the candidates’ grades, the better his or her chances of securing admission this year.
“The next point is the UTME scores where each score range has its equivalent point which can be summarized thus, 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points,” JAMB explained.
Giving a breakdown, JAMB explained that each category would contain five JAMB results per point added.
For example a candidate with 180-185 gets 20 points, while a candidate with 186-190 gets 21 points.
JAMB added that the point system for direct entry would be released soon.
JAMB stated that fees would still be charged for screening which would replace the Post UTME test.
JAMB also emphasised that catchment and educationally less-developed state would still be used for admission into the nation’s tertiary institutions.
JAMB said, “Merit contains 45 per cent of the total candidates for a particular course, Catchment contains 35 per cent and ELDS and staff lists contains the rest. Cut off marks will be released by the institutions this year in the form of points and not marks.
“If a school declares its cut off mark for Medicine as 90 points and JAMB grants a candidate with 250 a provisional admission but his/her total points falls short of the 90 points, then he/she will lose the admission. So the provisional admission is just a means to an end, not the end in itself.”
