Prince William and Kate Middleton have said they don't know the gender of the baby they're expecting.
But Prince Charles isn't
making a secret of his preference.
"We're hoping for a
granddaughter," he told a veteran he met this afternoon.
Charles, 66, was attending
an event at Windsor Castle with his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, and his
parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, to present new colors to the
Welsh Guards.
Meanwhile, royal watchers
have been camped outside St. Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing in London for days,
waiting for the Duchess of Cambridge to go into labor. Earlier this week, she
and her husband sent them pastries and coffee. Today, they recognized a
super-fan, 80-year-old Terry Hutt, by sending him a birthday cake.
The new arrival will bump Prince Harry to fifth in
line for the throne.
He or she will be fourth,
behind Prince Charles, Prince William and big brother George, who will turn 2
in July.
