The Police Force is trying to trace the mother of a baby found in a street in Corby have released a picture of the little girl.

The foundling was found in a box outside a house in Ibsen Walk on Monday morning and is thought be aged between three to six weeks old.

Detective Superintendent Steve Lingley from Northamptonshire Police has appealed to the girl's mother to contact him so he can be sure she is safe.

"I know you may feel you are in a very difficult position and I know it must have been incredibly difficult to have left your baby," he said.

"But please get in touch with us - we want to make sure you are alright."

Wrapped in a blue blanket and wearing only a nappy, the girl is being looked after at Kettering General Hospital.

The mother, or anyone who has any information about her or the baby, can contact the police by calling 101.
