Mubarak
Aliyu Gidado, a 16-year-old secondary school student, was killed by a power
generator which burst into flames as he tried to start it.
A 16-year-old Senior
Secondary School 3 student, Mubarak Aliyu Gidado, has died
in Bauchi after a power generator exploded while he was starting it behind his
family home.
His father, Mohammed,
told newsmen that Gidado was engulfed in flames after the Wednesday explosion
and he struggled with the flames.
“The fuel just ignited
fire and the flames consumed him as he struggled," he said.
Mohammed said his son
suffered extensive burns before he was rushed to the hospital where he died on
Friday, Daily Trust reports.
“The doctors gave him a
50-50 chance but his conditioned worsen and he was placed on life support
machine but his heart failed and he gave up.”
The distraught father
described his son as an obedient and diligent child.
"He was an obedient
child," he said.
"He wanted to study
Computer Science but now he is no more, He was a good child.
"The whole Islamic
School students and teachers came to my house to sympathise with me on learning
of his death."
Gidado has since been
buried.
