A Mason
High School student who caused panic at the school after
threatening to shoot up the school has been sentenced after pleading guilty to
the charges.
The unnamed student had sent a group chat to students
saying he planned to “shoot up the school," a second-degree felony according
according to Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell.
Officials were tipped off,
leading to the student's arrest.
After pleading guilty
Friday to inducing panic on school grounds, Warren County Juvenile Court Judge
Joseph Kirby, placed him on probation
and ordered him to be put on house arrest with an electronic monitoring device
fitted to his body.
The judge also ordered the
student to; complete an outpatient psychological therapy and anger management
courses; write a formal letter of apology to Mason
City Schools; and write an essay
for Kirby [the Judge].
Student Pulse gathered
that Mason City Schools is still investigating the incident and may hand down
its own punishment.
