His Holiness Pope Franciscus the First today touched down at Washington at the start of a 6 day State visit to the United States that would see him cruise through Washington to New York and finally to Philadelphia
Pope Francis was received on arrival at John Base Andrews by President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and other Senior Government Officials
The White House will host Pope Francis on Wednesday, and the pontiff is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress on Thursday before he heads to New York.
